About the event

The Gauteng meeting of the Critical Care Society of Southern Africa addresses bedside care, organ support and ethical decisions in intensive care. Its Friday programme offers focused workshops, followed by a Saturday meeting that combines evidence updates with case discussions.

The scientific agenda moves from nutrition and respiratory support to infection, blood therapy and rehabilitation. It also examines shared decisions around resuscitation and case-based ethical problems. Separate registration categories are published for doctors, nurses and allied health professionals.

Topics and programme

Friday workshops cover ICU palliation, extracorporeal organ support, blood management with ROTEM/TEG testing, and respiratory monitoring.
Saturday sessions include a critical care year in review, protein feeding, GLP-1 receptor agonists and artificial intelligence.
Further discussions address antimicrobial resistance, sepsis diagnosis, resistant Candida, patient mobilisation and personalised haemodynamic resuscitation.
