About the event

The theme, Cardiac Anaesthesia – From Physiology to Precision, connects perioperative assessment, blood management and echocardiography. CASSA is the cardiothoracic and vascular anaesthesia special interest group of the South African Society of Anaesthesiologists.

The meeting uses different venues for its two days. Friday's FATE workshops take place at the GE offices in Johannesburg, while the heart wetlab is hosted by the WITS Department of Anaesthesia. Saturday's conference is at The Capital on the Park in Sandton.

Topics and programme

FATE and advanced FATE workshops, plus a heart wetlab correlating anatomy with echocardiography.
Haemoglobin, prehabilitation, anaemia and blood transfusion in cardiac surgery.
Equitable cardiac care in Africa, cardiothoracic anaesthesia, post-valve-replacement TEE, vascular access and three-dimensional echo.
