Nursing and rehabilitation history
The institute’s provider history describes long-term and short-term nursing care, respite care and adult day services at the St. Thomas facility. It also identifies a home-health agency called Sea View Health Care Services, with offices on St. Croix and St. Thomas. The nursing facility and that separately described agency should not be collapsed into a single service location.
A Department of Health biographical account of former commissioner Alfred O. Heath records his role as owner and medical director of Sea View Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility. That biographical account supplies additional historical identification of the institution; it is not a current management roster.
Later government property plans
Government House subsequently described Seaview as a former nursing home when discussing a proposed purchase and conversion into a mental-health facility. The proposal concerned reuse of the property and should be distinguished from the earlier nursing-home services.
The Legislature’s July 2025 analysis of the Department of Property and Procurement budget also records an appropriation that included renovation and outfitting of Seaview Nursing Home. A budget provision documents planned work on the property; it does not establish that a new clinical facility opened or that the historical nursing services resumed.
